Fix the Hurt Corp Receives 2016 Best of Mesa Award

MESA August 25, 2016 — Fix the Hurt Corp has been selected for the 2016 Best of Mesa Award in the Crisis Intervention Service category by the Mesa Award Program.

Each year, the Mesa Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Mesa area a great place to live, work and play.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2016 Mesa Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Mesa Award Program and data provided by third parties.

A Few Words

I have worked face to face with Linda twice and a few times via electronic media. Linda is wonderfully easy going and a very creative and insightful individual brilliantly sharing details of the lives of individuals compromised through abuse in a way that helps service providers really appreciate what life looks like through the abused person’s eyes. She does all of us a great service by ensuring this perspective informs the design of services.

Thank you so much for scheduling this powerful event. The play was dynamic and informative. I was surprised how captive I was and how captive the students were during the hour-long event. The message of control, isolation and confusion were made quite clear. I think everyone there may have come away with a better understanding of how domestic violence works. If there is a chance to have them return for an encore, several other of my students would like to see them perform, educate.

I wanted to thank you for your help in presenting Domestic Violence, The Musical to Alamogordo and Holloman Air Force Base. The production was wonderful and the setting at the Flickinger Center was amazing. This was an interesting and innovative way of presenting the issues and problems that surround Domestic Violence to the community and all ofthe comments and media attention surrounding the presentation were positive.

I just wanted to let you know that the reviews and observations I have received about the musical were excellent. Many had the courage to talk about their own experiences, others were in shock and disbelief at what it really means to be in a domestic violence situation, others were uncomfortable enough that did not know what to say. Regardless, I thank you for sharing Lisa’s story and using this innovative venue to send the message across.

Clemencia PrietoDirector YWCA Transitional Living Center, El Paso, Texas

I was impressed with the professionalism of the production, with the talent of the actors, but more importantly, with the message that this project delivers. I am pleased that a proactive approach to the problem of domestic violence is being offered. I commend Linda King for focusing her efforts as a victim to produce this ‘out of the box’ approach to combating domestic violence.

Jaime EsparzaDistrict Attorney, 34th Judicial District of Texas

As a Marriage and Family Therapist with a sub-specialty in domestic violence, I believe the presentation of Domestic Violence – the Musical, is a brilliant, unique and highly accurate portrayal of the psycho-dynamics between victim and victimizer that is the tragic essence and progression of domestic violence. It also vividly portrays the solution to this nationwide scourge.
